I firmly believe that writing a complete review of a slot after 1 day of play testing would be an unfair assessment of the game. However, it is completely fair to give my honest take of the game after hours of getting my asshole turned inside out by it.
I had high hopes for this slot. Just the simple fact that you can spin into the greatest bonus in Pragmatic history with a base bet puts this game light years ahead of their recent releases: namely those in the 2500 series.
In addition to the base bet, Gates of Olympus offers 3!!!! Ante Bets, because why pay $1 to spin when you can pay an additional 25 cents for a 2x higher chance at free spin! Or even $1.75 more for 8x higher chance at a bonus! Or how about $5.50 for 8x higher chance at a bonus and a higher chance at getting a better type of bonus?
First of all, what the fuck does 8x higher chance even mean? Who is doing the math at Pragmatic? Because after over 100 spins without a bonus on Ante Bet 3, these numbers get awfully confusing. And to make matters worse, a majority of your 8x bonus chance spins will spin into a base bonus, not an upgraded bonus. I can't write enough bad things about Pragmatic's decision to add expensive ante bets with Mickey Mouse math tooltips convincing you to take the leap into poverty with unjustifiably expensive spins.
The Super Spins are extremely risky, stick to Super Spin 1 if you must, as it has the potential to drop huge multipliers without the massive money sink of Super Spin 2. The best bonus by far is the Super Free Spins 2 but don’t count on spinning into it. You’re better off just buying the bonus than being baited spinning into one with Ante Bet 3 because a majority of the bonuses from that bet will in fact be the uber disappointing Free Spin 1. If you must spin into Super Free Spins 2, try it with base bet or Ante Bet 1 as miracles do happen- I’ve personally experienced this.
That’s all for this quick take of Gates of Olympus 2500. A game with very high potential, but also a deathtrap for the undisciplined slot spinner. Player beware!
